This course is designed for passionate paddlers who are looking to share their love of SUP with others. It's ideal for individuals who:
Have a strong foundation in SUP skills (e.g., completed a Paddle Canada Advanced SUP Skills course or equivalent).
Are passionate about teaching and mentoring others.
Desire a nationally recognized certification to instruct stand-up paddleboarding.
This comprehensive course covers a wide range of advanced paddling skills and safety techniques, including:
Paddle Canada Standards: Learn and understand the Paddle Canada SUP Instructor Standards and best practices.
Instructional Techniques: Develop a wide range of effective teaching methods, including lesson planning, risk management strategies for SUP instruction, providing constructive feedback to students, adapting instruction to different learning styles, and using various teaching aids and demonstrations.
Safety and Risk Management: Learn to assess and mitigate risks specific to SUP instruction environments, and respond effectively to students needs (including rescue scenarios).
Group Management: Develop essential skills in managing groups of students of varying sizes and abilities, maintaining discipline and a positive learning environment, and adapting instruction to group dynamics.
Practical Application: Gain extensive hands-on experience through practical teaching sessions, where you'll plan and deliver lessons under the guidance of an experienced instructor. Receive detailed feedback on your teaching techniques, communication skills, and student management.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will:
Receive a nationally recognized Paddle Canada SUP Instructor certification.
Develop the skills and knowledge to safely and effectively instruct beginner and intermediate SUP students.
Gain confidence in your ability to teach and mentor others.
Be well-equipped to start your career as a SUP instructor.
Your instructor, Drew Climie, is not only a certified Paddle Canada Instructor Trainer but also has a proven track record of successfully training and certifying new SUP instructors.
These prerequisites are essential for ensuring your success in the course and your future effectiveness as a SUP instructor.
At least 16 years of age.
Paddle Canada membership (this will be created when you register if you do not already have one)
Completion of a Paddle Canada Advanced SUP Skills course or equivalent.
Current certification in Standard or Wilderness First Aid with CPR (minimum 14-16 hours), this can be added after the Instructor program has been completed.
